An award-winning professional, having served as Vice President of the American Heart Association Fellows Society of New York, Dr. Amirian is committed to state-of-the-art individualized high-quality care for each and every single one of his valued patients. Isn’t that the kind of attention you seek out in someone looking out for your heart health? We sat down with our own gifted cardiologist and asked him where that passion for his craft comes from. Find out what he has to say about his main motivations.
Why did you choose to become a cardiologist?
Cardiology has always been my passion, even from a young age. I am truly blessed to be able to take care of patients each day. This constantly advancing field allows me to make a positive and everlasting impact on the life of each individual that I take care of. Practicing as a cardiologist also gives me the ability to not only treat various cardiovascular conditions, but to focus on each patient and prevent heart ailments from arising.
What’s the greatest lesson you feel you can share with aspiring physicians?
That regardless of where your career takes you, always listen to your patients and spend time explaining their health conditions to them. Proper communication and patient education are the key factors to providing excellent care.
Name one piece of heart-friendly advice you recommend.
For my patients to live an active lifestyle filled with physical activity. This is an area in which we can see major improvements, as approximately only 50% of adults in the United States meet the minimum recommendation. According to the 2019 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Guideline on the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease, adults should engage in at least 150 min/week of moderate intensity or 75 min/week of vigorously intensive activity, including resistance exercise.
Put your trust in the hands of a gifted professional who truly cares.
