A Serious Heart Condition Known as SCAD

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rare condition in which a tear forms in a blood vessel in the heart. This can result in a heart attack, an abnormal heart rhythm, or even death.

In a recent news article by the New York Post, experts have warned that SCAD is reaching fit and healthy women as young as 22 years old.

What are some symptoms of SCAD?

  1. Chest pain or a feeling of heaviness or pressure
  2. Rapid heartbeat
  3. Excessive sweating
  4. Pain in the arms, shoulders, jaw
  5. Shortness of breath

The article also states that SCAD can sometimes go undiagnosed so it is important for you to be proactive when it comes to your health.
