Potassium levels in the blood may be increased by some blood pressure-lowering medicines that belong to the family of pharmaceuticals known as ACE inhibitors. Because of this, meals that are rich in potassium should be avoided.
Taking potassium supplements or eating a lot of foods high in potassium while taking this medicine might make the condition worse and lead to hyperkalemia. The heart and muscles may be affected by hyperkalemia, a disorder characterized by an abnormally high potassium level in the blood.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before making any dietary changes while taking some ACE inhibitors.
